Bruntwood partners with An Hour For Others

Bruntwood has chosen community support charity An Hour For Others as its Liverpool charity partner for this year.

An Hour For Others encourages people and businesses in the region to volunteer their skills and time to help improve the lives of less fortunate members of the local community.

It organises health and wellbeing groups across a range of topics including cooking, finance, DIY and mindfulness, while also providing monthly home makeovers, food hampers and other direct acts of kindness, as well as playgroup activities for disadvantaged children.

Bruntwood hopes to raise up to £10,000 for the organisation through a series of fundraising events over the next 12 months. Its first event in honour of the charity, a Christmas Curry Quiz held at The Old Hall in the Cotton Exchange building, attracted more than 100 guests and raised in excess of £3,000.

Gill Watkins, who founded the charity, said:

“An Hour For Others is a growing network that brings together good-hearted local men and women who give whatever spare resources they can to help those who have hit the hardest of times. We believe we all have a responsibility to make our little part of the world a better place for our children.

“We are therefore delighted to be the chosen charity of the year for Bruntwood. It means so much to us that our hard work has been recognised by such a huge North West organisation and we are grateful for the support, recognition and help offered and really look forward to linking up over the next year.

“The Christmas Curry Quiz has got us off to a great start and the money raised during this year will help us to purchase a van that will enable us to collect and drop furniture that we are donated on a daily basis to people in need, who would not be able to afford much-needed household essentials.”

Nina Luxford of Bruntwood, said:

“We have long been committed to offering genuine support in our local communities, so An Hour For Others seemed like a natural choice as our charity partner.

“It’s essential that we have organisations such as this, willing and able to step in and provide direct support and compassion when people need it most.”
