Comedian Jo Brand shows support for Poppy Quest

Comedian Jo Brand is encouraging families to show their support for the Armed Forces and get involved in Liverpool’s The Royal British Legion Poppy Quests, a brand new fundraising event.

Taking place on Sunday 21 July and starting at the iconic Williamson Square, the Legion’s Poppy Quest 2019 will take participants on a journey of discovery around the streets of Liverpool revealing hidden secrets of the city as they go.

Jo says;

“This might be surprising for some but I love walking, even better when its with a group of friends and we can build in a bit of history and get our brains in gear too. It’s a recipe for smiles and laughter – whilst helping us all to stay fit and mentally healthy which I’m all for promoting. I’m particularly pleased to support Poppy Quest for The Royal British Legion, as it offers you a chance to follow a 10k walking trail around Liverpool answering puzzles along the way, and even better – you leave techy gadgets behind and just use your wits,  and a map…

“I can’t think of a better way to have a fun day out, testing my local knowledge whilst raising funds for our Armed Forces community.”

The perfect way to explore the history, heritage and vibrancy of Liverpool, participants will navigate all four corners of the city armed with just a map and a quiz to answer en route to guide them from point to point. Suitable for all ages and abilities, those taking part can walk solo, with their dog or with family and friends.

The Legion offers life-long support to the Armed Forces community in a number of ways including providing crisis grants, researching the changing impact of blast injuries on the body, lobbying the government on key issues, specialist dementia care, sport and art based recovery programmes and advising on benefits and money problems.

The Merseyside Area team, based at the Pop In Centre on 25-31 Williamson Street, Liverpool, L1 1EB, will also be present on the day to provide information on their welfare services.

The walk is free for under 18s to take part and £16 per adult with a minimum fundraising target of £50. The fee includes an official Poppy Quest 2019 t-shirt, finisher’s medal, detailed city map and quiz sheet and there will be entertainment and refreshments at the start and finish.
