From new exhibitions to festive food we’re here to celebrate December with you at Bluecoat and we’re also looking ahead to 2019:

Blue Room at Ten: Sat 1 Dec 2018 – Sun 10 Mar 2019

Bluecoat’s inclusive arts project Blue Room celebrates ten years of creativity with an exhibition in the Vide marking the anniversary. Inspired by images from the project’s extensive photographic archive, Blue Room artists have collaborated with Louise Waller and Alice Odgers from Baltic Clay to create a collection of ceramics which reference Bluecoat’s resident potter Julia Carter Preston (1926 – 2012), exploring her sgraffito technique.The exhibition also features screen prints created at Bluecoat Print Studio in collaboration with Liverpool artist Becky Peach. Blue Room at Ten is also part of DaDaFest International 2018.

Blue room: the journey:

Sat 1 Dec | 2 – 3.30pm

Discover the history of blue room, Bluecoat’s inclusive arts programme for learning disabled adults. Since 2008, three groups of blue room artists have met weekly at the gallery to explore the exhibitions and create their own artwork. Members are supported to develop creative and social skills, building confidence and greater independence.In this event, as part of the blue room at ten exhibition, you’ll get the chance to meet members of blue room, staff and associated artists to discover how this unique project began, and what the future holds.

Are we in an era of post-disability art?:

Mon 3 Dec | 11am – 1pm

Colin Hambrook and Trish Wheatley from Disability Arts Online host a panel discussion regarding a recent provocation questioning perceptions of the Disability Arts Movement.

NDACA Launch
