The Liverpool BID Company works on behalf of our BID members to provide added value and champion their voice to partners within the city.

Cleansing & Environment – BID projects latest update:

  • BID negotiating with LCC to provide resources and equipment for BID to operate additional cleansing services.
  • LCC advising on cost and programme for 11 BID funded new street litter bins on Bold Street to replace the existing 10 and bringing in one additional.

Safety – BID projects latest update:

  • BID has negotiated the service level agreement with City Watch (Council’s CCTV control room) to fund an additional member of the staff to provide additional safety services through the Radio Link scheme for Evening and Night-Time Economy (ENTE) BID members Thursday-Saturday, 9pm-5am.
    This has been approved by both City Central and Commercial District BID Operating Boards. Starting on Thursday, 17 August.
  • BID ENTE Radio Link provision starts on Thursday, 17 August.

  • ENTE security and intelligence briefing meetings to be launched in September.
  • BID will be contracting 2 SIA (Security Industry Authority) badged team members to work every week Thursday-Saturday, 7pm-3am. Their role would be to visit and support all BID leisure, hospitality and accommodation businesses for reassurance and support. It will link with City Watch and ENTE Radio Link. This has been approved by both City Central and Commercial District BID Operating Boards. To be tendered out.
  • Late Night Levy – Liverpool City Council has voted to implement a Late Night Levy across the authority from the 1 April 2017. This will see premises that are licenced to serve alcohol after midnight charged an additional levy.
    Liverpool BID Company has been able to negotiate a full exemption from this additional charge for BID members. 257 BID businesses will benefit from this full exemption.
  • BID launched a pilot programme with Merseyside Community Rehabilitation Company (Probation) to involve retailers on helping shoplifter offenders on their rehabilitation and stop people from committing crime.

Street dwellers – BID projects latest update:

  • Outcome of the Mayor’s Task Group on rough sleeping has been delayed and it’s due to be announced in August.
  • Liverpool City Council is producing a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) which is looking to ensure the law-abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour in its various forms.

Marketing and Animation – BID projects latest update:

  • BID is working with Culture Liverpool on a new joined-up Christmas lighting scheme in the city centre including the BID areas. BID Christmas steering group leading on the activities. BID is currently negotiating the agreement.
  • BID is working with Open Culture to complement the Christmas lighting scheme to animate key locations in the BID area.
  • BID funded Christmas tree in St Paul’s Square will be installed on w/c 13 November.
  • BID is working with Liverpool City Council to extend the Section 115 licence we hold to the Commercial District. This will allow us to create animation within the Commercial District which will replicate the City Central system (promoteinliverpool.com).
    Please note BID members are entitled to four free days usage per year for outdoor promotional activity.
  • BID is liaising with Marketing Liverpool to discuss a new approach to promote the different destinations within the BID areas: Bold Street, Cavern Quarter, High Street and Castle Street, along with the promotion of them on the city-wide campaign for Christmas.
  • Student Takeover campaign to take place 25 Sep – 1 Oct. As a reference Liverpool ONE is doing their main event and promos on Wednesday 27 September.
    BID is working with Universities, Student Unions and city centre shopping centres to review information provided about the city centre for students, with the possibility of devising a welcome pack.

  • BID is key sponsor of ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers) Guinness World Record Lego Bridge which is now installed at The Capital Building on Old Hall Street and open to the public since 11 August.
  • Next print run of the city map co-funded with Liverpool ONE will be ready in October. If your businesses needs city maps email us to info@liverpoolbidcompany.com
