Amsterdam-based eyewear brand Ace & Tate, has opened up its first store in vibrant and friendly Liverpool. The store marks the brand’s fifth collaboration with Dutch design studio Os & Oos.
After six successful store openings throughout the UK, Ace & Tate finds its next home in the Northern part of the country, adding a dose of Scouse to its map. Located in the Liverpool’s lively neighbourhood, Ropewalks, the area is at the heart of the cities shopping district and nightlife.
About the store:
Drawing inspiration from Liverpool’s heritage as a harbour city, the interior is based on the concept ‘hiding in plain sight.’ The in-house Retail Design team and Dutch studio Os & Oos looked to the kooky design of World War 1 Razzle Dazzle ships that were painted with graphic stripes. The Zebra-esque patterns were intended as an optical illusion by obscuring their movements on water. In keeping with the brand’s mantra Take Another Look, the space asks visitors to question what they see, through elements like walls referencing the bend of a ship’s bow.
With Liverpool’s identity anchored by an iconic music history, it was an undeniable choice to subtly reference The Beatles. With indications of vessels all over the interior, a periscope neon and yellow painted corner. All that’s left to do is guess the song.
Bold views. Responsible actions. Nice Eyewear, too.
