Upcoming INHABIT Events and Performances at Bluecoat

INHABIT are now in its final phase of Bluecoat’s three-year programme New Dance and with this brings a spectacular programme of upcoming events and performances to Spring 2019. The programme, New Dance, prides itself on championing the independent dancer and includes audiences and participants from the wider community in the making and performance of new work. CI Sundays – Contact Improvisation: Open Dance Sessions
17 February, 17 March, 14 April, 19 May – Class: 1.00pm – 3.00pm / Jam: 3.00pm – 5.00pm
→ Contact Improvisation is an evolving system of movement, based on the communication between two moving bodies that are in physical contact. These open dance sessions are designed for people with all levels of moving and dance experience plus those who attend can expect to be taught by LIC artists and associates! Inspiring Imagination
Wednesday 6 March – 2.00pm – 4.00pm
→ Inspiring imagination will be led by Prestidge and two Blue Room dancers, Tony Carroll and Diana Disley. The workshop will invite attendees to experience the group’s methods of improvisation and play to support performance. Also during the workshop, there will be time for reflection, discussion and exchange about the work. Tickets can be purchased here.

New Territory – Real Lives
Wednesday 20 March – 6.00pm – 8.00pm
→ Dance artist Paula Hampson will be leading the workshop and will share her practice by inviting participants to explore the idea of engagement, both socially and personally. Tickets can be purchased here.

Symposium – Moving Dialogues
Saturday 6 April – 10.30am – 5.00pm
→ LIC artists Jo Blowers, Paula Hampson and Mary Prestidge will be hosting a one-day event at Bluecoat which is designed for artists and educators. The symposium is the culmination of INHABIT and provides the opportunity to reflect and share the experiences of this project also, the event includes a practical workshop, discussions, presentations and a performance.
